Beppe Gambetta Live at Gloria's
The Gloria Faye Dingus Music Alliance is pleased to welcome the return of master Italian guitarist Beppe Gambetta to Gloria's Listening Room. The concert will be an intriguing journey through the diverse musical world of Beppe Gambetta, a synthesis of the itineraries of his life, spent between his birth-place Genova, Europe and the United States where he currently resides. Beppe is a renowned guitarist but also a singer, composer, researcher who loves to tell stories about his journeys with a peculiar sense of humor and irony. Beppe shows in his performances a new and unique approach to the acoustic guitar, a style that he developed in a career of forty years of traveling, meeting with masters of many cultures, researching old forgotten traditions, performing for audiences of different Continents. Starting from the early studies of his American mentor Doc Watson, Beppe brought his flatpicking approach to a more modern development of plectrum guitar style, based on complex strumming, crosspicking and the use of open tunings. The program will feature selections from Beppe’s newest release, Where the Wind Blows, where he reveals himself to be not simply a master guitarist but also a new songwriter of great feeling, wisdom and maturity. Singing in three languages (English, Italian, Genovese), Beppe unveils four mostly autobiographic songs about his family and hometown of Genova, his life on the road, the fathers of the music that inspired him and the love of his life. In these songs, you can feel the Italian melodic sense and wide range of rhythmic variety and textures that help define Beppe's first all original album. In the foreground are the sentiments that read the distress of the present time: from the innocence of Hide and Seek to the sadness of Lament and the tender melody of the Sunrise Melody to the hope of Fighting While We Can and finally the joy of Forget About Me Not, a modern fiddle tune dedicated to his adopted homeland New Jersey. Join us to experience this exciting performance through the multifaceted artistic world of Beppe Gambetta. Tickets are $20, seating is limited, and advance purchase is recommended. Gloria's Concessions bar will be open with refreshments and light snacks available. Children 12 and under admitted free with parent. Doors open at 7:30 and the concert will begin at 8pm. Proceeds will go to the Gloria Faye Dingus Music Alliance a 501c3 non-profit organization.
