Join Friends of the Rappahannock in downtown Warrenton at Gloria’s Listening Room, as we release the results of the first ever Upper Rappahannock River Report Card. Funded by the PATH Foundation and Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, this report will expand on the Middle Rappahannock River Report Card released in 2018 and analyzes 12 tributaries to the Rappahannock River in Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Culpeper Counties. We will feature a short presentation, poster and mingle session, and plenty of Q&A. This event is one of a three-part outreach series and will have a local focus on the stream and river segments in Fauquier County. We are pleased to have Fauquier County as a sponsor on this effort to help raise awareness of stormwater and water quality concerns in the Rappahannock River. Special thanks to the Rappahannock Rapidan Regional Commission, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District, and Piedmont Environmental Council for their contributions to this report card. The report metrics include: Public Health – addresses waterborne bacteria, fish consumption advisories and contaminated sites Land Use – land uses, BMPs, and conservation on a small-watershed level Stream Ecology – an in-depth look at aquatic ecology and riparian buffer condition Community Engagement – looks at access, education, and public awareness
