Be the Change Foundation Hires Program Director
Michelle Coe to Develop Virtual Curriculum

At the August board meeting of Be the Change Foundation, members unanimously voted to expand their current in-person curriculum to include an online offering. Coordinating that effort will be Michelle Coe, owner of BlueSkyPhoenix, LLC, which specializes in brand strategy and marketing as well as web design and development. Coe has more than 20 years’ experience developing design and marketing solutions for small to mid-size businesses.

Founded by Marianne Clyde, Be the Change Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a mission of empowering, strengthening and inspiring women, offers a series of 12 classes for women who want to start a business or build on an existing one.
Coe currently serves as one of the class presenters. “Michelle is a great fit,” said Amelia Stansell, a senior loan officer with UVA Community Credit Union, and a Be the Change board member.  “She is familiar and passionate about our program.”
Coe has been tasked with research, creation and development of a virtual classroom offering set to launch in the fall of 2021. The in-person sessions will continue anchored in Fauquier County.

Since founding BlueSkyPhoenix, LLC in 2011, she has created and deployed more than 100 websites, designed more than 70 logos and created countless other designs for her clients’ digital needs.  Coe is keen on working closely with her clients to convey a professional and positive image.
Her work for Be the Change will expand their vision of reaching as many women as possible. She will not only be developing the virtual class offerings but upgrading their existing website, working on their marketing strategy and pursuing fundraising opportunities.
Coe already has a sizable group of networking partners and plans to establish and facilitate a social/networking component for online students. She will also be responsible for securing and training online teachers while building and deploying a learning management system.

Coe currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce and is co-chair of the Fauquier Chamber Micro Enterprise Council. She also serves as a director of ClassicPress Ltd.
“In a short time, the Be the Change Foundation has created a unique and very successful in-person women’s entrepreneurship program. It’s exciting to think about the number of women entrepreneurs who could be served through a similarly-focused online training program. I’m thrilled to serve in this new role and to work with the Board of Directors as they expand their mission to the online space,” said Coe whose contract starts in September.

Class registration (limited to 10) is full for the fall class which starts on Sept. 8 and will be held at Lord Fairfax Community College on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.  Participants will follow COVID-safety guidelines. Another in-person session will occur in the spring.
“We are very excited about adding Michelle to our team,” said Clyde. “We look forward to her guidance as we move forward to expand our mission of serving as many women as possible…now adding a virtual component.”
