  • Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce.


    Serving on the board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth along with expressing your support of the small business community. Completing this form will help you understand the skills and time/resource commitments of this leadership position. You may find it helpful to read through the entire application and Board Member Responsibilities before you begin filling it out.

This application will be kept confidential and on file at the Chamber office.


    Applications are used by the Board’s Nominating Committee to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. All new directors are elected by a majority vote of current board members. 


    BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • A Board of Directors consisting of at least eleven (11) not more than twenty-four (24) voting members shall govern the Chamber.
    • New members of the Board of Directors shall be representing a Chamber member in good standing.
    • New members of the Board of Directors shall be elected annually by the Chamber membership for a term of three (3) years to commence at the beginning of the calendar year immediately following the election.
    • The Board of Directors shall meet no less than nine (9) times a year at a time and place determined by them. The Full Board of Directors meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 8:30am – 10:00am
    • Each member of the Board of Directors shall serve on at least one (1) Board of Directors or Chamber committee/council during each year of the member’s term.
    • Stays informed about committee matters, is prepared for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
    • Builds a collegial working relationship with other committee members that contributes to consensus.
    • Will act in a manner consistent with always advocating for the benefit of the Chamber to the community at large.
    • Participates in the advancement of the strategic plan of the Chamber including fundraising and member recruitment. Individuals elected to the Board of Director’s will be expected to review, agree to and sign the Chamber’s Code of Conduct policy.
